Telscope Types

SOHO

A.) the radiation ranges from microwaves to ultraviolet rays

B.) Above

C.) The light travels in 1 year

D.) It uses CCD

Sunspots

Well first sunspots are cool dark spots on the sun's surface that are associated with strong magnetic fields. Sunspots make look small but some can be as big as the earth. Sunspots affect the earths ionosphere. The ionosphere is the highest part of our atmosphere. An increase of matter flows out of the sun and into our atmosphere which sometimes affects our satellites and makes background static. When there is a lot of solar activity the earths atmosphere heats up and sometimes melt the satellites that are low to the earth. Some people thought that sunspots had something to do with rainfall and outbreak of disease but it was never ruled true. Sunspots have been shown to mess up a GPS system during a solar storm. A Solar storm is a large burst of charged particles, it is in the ionosphere. Sun spots are almost always seen in pairs. Solar Flares are most likely to occur in sunspots that are rotating like a hurricane. The Number of sunspots on a sun depends on a 11 year cycle. Sunspots are so much darker than the rest of the sun because the temperature of them is so much cool than as the sun. That is all the information i could find about sunspots.

What is up with Mercury

1.Mercury rotates 3 times in every 2 mercury years.

2. The waves lost energy when traveling and interacting with matter.

3. We received 5 graphs because when the waves hit Mercury's surface its rotation caused more than 1 return beam.

Lab 2: Moons of Jupiter

1. When the moons are closer to jupiter the data is much closer together

2. Shows the rotation of the moons around jupiter.

3. Closet moon to jupiter and is very fast.

4. Laws of planetary motion.

Escaping the Sun

1. I didn't see a relationship between the number of layers and the amount of interactions

2. I found that it was more accurate in the second simulation because it used a larger number of photons and when you use larger numbers your data is bound to be more accurate like the law of large of large numbers.

3. As energy increases the wavelength decreases. As the energy increases the number of photons detected decreases compared to the number of photons detected when the energy was closer to 2.

Stellar Spectra

1. A line spectra because you never actually see the rays of sun.

2. I think when they are farther away because you cant see things as clear as the really are.

3. You can use its luministy to tell how long the period is.

4.

5.

Scaling our Solar System

1. If the Sun had a diameter of 1 in. the earth would be about 8 ft. away and saturn would be about 85 ft. away.

2. If you were 3 years old on saturn you would be 89 years old on earth.

3. You would weigh 212.8 pounds on saturn if you weighed 200 lbs. on earth.

Annie Cannon and the Spectra

i want to help people with their problems

Tunguska

I think it was a meteor that blew up right before it hit the earth.

1.The whole planet earth did blow up
2. There is not a crater or hole
3. It was way worse than hiroshima that was a nuclear explosion

Electromagnetic Radiation

Many things would be very different. You would not have radio's cell phones or even microwaves.

Oort Cloud

1. The cloud of rocks and dust that surrounds our solar systems. The Oort cloud is believed to contain long-period comets.

2. The Oort cloud is the source of long-period comets and possibly higher-inclination intermediate comets that were pulled into shorter period orbits by the planets, such as Halley and Swift-Tuttle. Comets can also shift their orbits due to jets of gas and dust that rocket from their icy surface as they approach the sun. Although they get off course, comets do have initial orbits with widely different ranges, from 200 years to once every million years or more. Comets entering the planetary region for the first time, come from an average distance of 44,000 astronomical units.

3. The Oorts cloud is a sphere shaped cloud where a lot of longer orbit comets get their start. It is 5 to 8 trillion kilometers from the sun.

4. The cloud surrounds the planetary system and is aprox extends 3 lightyears from the sun.

5. The mass of the cloud is about 40 times that of Earth
